Hello,
the good news first: I am basically done with my Apache configuration,
documented, so chances are I can start migrating sites probably even
during FOSDEM. I've just changed the TTL in DNS, so we can switch over
in ~24 hours. I've cancelled an event in Munich tomorrow to be here and
get some more work done.
The bad news: We are experiencing a massive load on kermit, our web server.
It's most likely related to MySQL. Shutting down takes ages, and upon
restart, it works for a while. I assume it's simply too many
transactions going on and I/O is the bottleneck. We had this before, but
the impact has grown massively.
To all my other fellow admins: I'll have a look this evening from time
to time, but if the responsibility of the LibO website gets ugly, or if
the load gets insanely high (did see 20 and above today), feel free to
whole-heartedly restart MySQL and/or Apache.
Sorry for all those inconveniences - it's simply our legacy and
heritage, with lots of undocumented stuff, but the more I get documented
these days, the more comfortable I feel for the migration to the new
platform, which I try to achieve by any chance for 4.0.
Florian
