Hello, there is an important Open Source Database: Firebird SQL http://www.firebirdsql.org/ It's avaible for Windows, Linux, MAC, Solaris, ... Perhaps you could implement a native database support in Libre Office for BASE. Many Firebird users world wide would be very happy if this works .
