Hello!
I apologise in advance for my inability to construct a well formed e-mail.
I'm not great with these things!
Hi guys, my name is Aidan Church, I'm a 20 year old Computer Science
student from Dublin, Ireland and I've been looking to get involved with an
open source project which I use and like. I've decided I would like to get
involved with LibreOffice. I chose the Web Admin team because I've found
myself missing the Sysadmin / Webadmin work I did for my Universities
Internet Society which I haven't been involved with this year and I would
love to get involved with a project worthwhile. I wouldn't describe myself
as the most knowledgeable System Administrator / Web Developer in the world
but I hope I would be of some use!
I've been reading the Wiki and am currently looking over the mailing list
archives to bring myself up to speed with where everything is at. I've some
experience with Debian / FreeBSD System Administration, MySQL, Apache, Ruby,
Java, Javascript, CSS/HTML and some php. I'm always up for learning more and
I guess that's one of my main goals with all of this, is to learn more and
keep up to speed with the latest tech to compliment what I learn in
University.
I guess my next question(s) are.. what would the next step be? What areas
do you guys currently need help with? What would you suggest I do? I've
never actually gotten involved with a project so I apologise for the noobie
questions you've probably heard many times before. Hope to hear from you
guys soon.
Regards,
Aidan.
