When I use the documentfoundation wiki, inevitably trying to edit:

I often find myself logged in in Hungarian (or some other
language) instead of English - worse than that (for whatever reason
- even though the entries are labelled appropriately) - Firefox
refuses to recognise this as a login page, so I get to re-enter my
credentials each time (which is a real pain).
hm, strange. Works like a charm for me in Firefox. Anyone else can
verify these issues?

I had no problems either.

Have you tried another browser? Deleted the cookies?

You can try in addition to:
  * disable any javascript editor (Rich Editor / WYSIWYG Editor)
  * disable page caching (in the User preferences | Appearance tab in
the wiki)
  * remove all browser language preferences but English
