I don't see a "Protect Cells" item for single cell selection too. But
"Unprotect Cells" is there. The supposed workflow is to use main menu or the
toolbar to set the protection plus context menu for removing it. Both provide
easy access to the functions.
And as Timur pointed out, we have to keep the context menu short with only the
most relevant functions. You can customize it for your use case per tools >
customize > context menu: target = Table, search for Protect and use the arrows
in the middle to move the command.
