We discussed the topic in the design meeting. While it sounds reasonable that
sometimes you want to print the grid it's a helper functions and can become
complex: thickness, straightness, color etc. might need to be configurable. See
also bug 130995.

We could alternatively ship a couple of templates with grids on a layer that
illustrate how the customization is done. An example would be bug 131418.
