While in edit mode I wouldn't delete the whole object- it's like cutting the
bough you are sitting on. It would also technically be challenging if not
impossible.

In normal view mode you get a delete menu item. Either show the Navigator (F5)
or the respective deck in the sidebar and look for the new OLE object.
Right-click and -> Delete. => WFM
