In any case... if you take it like "the function of NAVIGATOR" is to browse
through objects, a REFRESH BUTTON might be, still, adequate on NAVIGATOR
itself...
cause it means "refresh view" or "update view"...
just take the web browsers.. "refresh / reload" is the 2nd most important
BUTTON in their visible tool bar since ever..
browsers are for viewing, so refreshing "the view" is really one of the core
functionalities they need to perform...
part of it because this is what the USER needs to do when using the browser --
to browse the web pages...
when you work with MASTER document,
you ARE SUPPOSED TO use the NAVIGATOR
cause MASTER document means that you work with a COMPLEX of documents..
which have to be organized and kept under control...
and NAVIGATOR could be (viewed as) the DASHBOARD of this functionality
