Example taken with Firefox
Double-click selects the word and places the cursor right of it. And the cursor
position is relevant for the context, meaning whether it's a link, an object,
or misspelled word.
So the request is rather to check if the selection left of the cursor is
unknown, additionally to the focus, which is common and known for instance in
the web browser. Mispelled
