--- Comment #4 from V Stuart Foote <vstuart.foote@utsa.edu> ---
The print previews do render the sheet canvas with header/footer with style and
theme applied, but it is not an edit mode. Even though Print Preview mode does
provide for margin adjustment to show more or less of the sheet in the print
result--it does not allow editing of the data sheets. It also is limited to a
single page result, no multi-page or book layout view is available here or in
an edit mode.

Currently we have just the two editing modes in calc--Normal and Page Break.
They do not provide any visual editing of the header or footer in context.
Header/footer edits of which must be done from the Insert > Headers and
Footers... dialog that then draws in the Page style (Default, or Report).

Assume this would require a fair bit of effort. For devs can the internals of
the sheets for handling things like pivot tables even be reworked for visual
editing of the result?

Even if technically feasible, kind of seems the additional visual edit mode
would be useful for novice users but not as a primary work flow for more
accomplished spreadsheet users.

Adding the view mode(s) to the status bar would be visual candy, but not
unreasonable if this additional edit mode were implemented.

All things considered, seems like a valid enhancement if a bit ambitious, but
certainly not a priority.
