general font fallback to handle the bullet replacement--but that would need
to be investigated a bit more deeply.
Thanks for digging this up, so it was a deliberate decision and not very long
ago. I’d be hesitant to take any change lightly here, without actually
assessing its implications; just assuming any original issues has solved
themselves by now is not enough IMO.
