Great idea!
Perhaps a check box/radio button selection to filter the Special Character
dialog?
Also, as majority of Emoji are assigned codepoints described in the Unicode
supplementary multilingual plane (SMP), we have issues in displaying emoji with
BMP default Liberation Serif.
And font fallback substitution to use SMP has been a mess of late.
