vstuart,
I'm reopening this as
1) There are multiple users requesting this feature.
2) We already implement this feature in the main properties sidebar
3) Some of your counter bug examples have been resolved, while others do not
directly conflict with this request such as Bug 67770
I feel Yousuf adequately addressed all the other concerns you had with this
feature. This is also the best solution to Bug 92317. Every panel needs a
minimum width to be functional. We either need a global minimum as discussed
here or a per panel minimum discussed there. A global minimum has the advantage
of not needing to dynamically resize the panel when switching between panels of
different min width.
I use several application with side panel UIs. LibreOffice is the only one
where I often find myself resizing it to fix inaccessible controls. No matter
how you spin it, that's a bug not a feature.
