(In reply to V Stuart Foote from comment #17)
Not a chance... while the CMIS work and additional "File Services" dialog
support is useful for getting to remote content off system, the LO dialogs
for local content aren't going to change that much. UI may change--even
drastically, but they'll always be there in some form as an alternative to
DE file managers.
Yes i guess its worth keeping for people who wish to use it, though the one
main benefit of it was that it was the only way to connect to CMIS.
Again, showing available document choice by component, a choice other than
"All files", is reasonable but just for the LO provided dialogs.
Guess we wont agree there, as we shouldnt have one behaviour in the LO dialogs
and another in the OS dialogs.
Possible, yes. But a major refactoring and need for integration into native
dialogs across all implementations. So, yes it would be a *bad* idea as it
would offer little for improved UX with potential for a whole lot of pain in
making it function correctly.
Preselecting an entry in the filetype dialog should be a simple process, else
placing that entry at the top of the list and 'All Files' at the bottom is
another means of achieving it (we do this in the insert audio/video dialog).
