They have ever been available for customization and still are available.
Find the commands "Merge Table" and "Split Table" in the category "Table".
It is true, that they have no associated icon, but that applies to other
commands too. I see the issue as "Worksforme".
Oops, right you are--they are there and can be added without issue, no icon. I
was looking for them as an unchecked command already on the tool bar, and
forgot to search the Add dialog.
Still with removal of "split table" from the context menu, wouldn't it make
sense to create a pair of Icons, and have them resident as checked (or
unchecked) tools on the Table toolbar?
