--- Comment #32 from Andreas Heinlein <aheinlein@gmx.com> ---
I have to join in to ask something related to this topic:

We are indeed looking for a way to disable *creation* of these thumbnails in
registrymodifications.xcu, without setting the PickListSize to 0.

We are editing sensitive data, and we chose to keep it on encrypted storage to
keep it private. The LO user profiles currently reside on the server
(NFS-mounted home).

First there is the fact that these thumbnails indeed added some considerable
server load. It looks like every time a new thumbnail is created, the complete
file is read from the server and written back, and with each file being around
2-3MB this adds up quickly with 100+ users.

But more important, we are obliged to make sure that these profiles do not
contain any sensitive data. We're not talking about "shoulder surfing", we're
talking about deliberate attacks. So we will set the PickListSize to 0 for now,
but I am looking for a better solution.

Can someone help?
