Cor: You're totally right, it's important to consider the different users!
In general it's very important to have short mouse paths. The longer the path
you have to move the mouse, the more you don't experience the functionality as
user friendly.
For me that means: I will always prefer the formatting toolbar at the top over
the sidebar, because accessing options in the sidebar is much longer measured
in mouse path compared to the toolbar. If someone would come to the idea and
remove the toolbar at the top, I would personally learn the shortcuts over
using the sidebar...
Having the addressed options accessible inside the context menu, which is the
shortest mouse path at all, personally means user friendliness to me.
I'm in general for removing clutter, but this one is useful in my eyes.
