Just to mention.. I'm not against reducing the functionality where it is
overloaded, I'm against removing things you'll otherwise have to hunt down
in 3rd level menus and dialogues. I'm fine with removing redundant
functionality that you can access by one mouse click on the tool bar or side
bar in a default (!) configuration.
Yes I do agree with that to a certain level.
But let's also think that there are various types of users: those doing all (as
much as possible) with toolbars, those doing lots with the context menu and
then - at distance - those working with the menu's and key board
