I get the appeal, but the work involved to correctly implement this enhancement
across GUI(s) for all supported OS and DE makes this rather unlikely to be
pursued.

Adjusting component to correct ux-advise--is this a reasonable feature set for
a 4.4 target?

Of course if any devs see this as a fun project with merit it might move
quickly.
