We have adjusted the 'default' color for the selection cell highlighting from a
light red (#ff0000), to a deep pink color (#ef0fff)
Additionally as noted, in Calc the default color for the cell highlight can be
changed from the Tools --> Options --> Appearance, Custom colors panel in the
Spreadsheet section by modifying the 'References' element.
Please take a moment to download and test a current build of the 4.3.0.0alpha+
master from http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/master/
