There is a use case for arbitrary line widths:
Matching line width to the stroke widths of (sans serif)
characters/fonts, e.g. for making signs or other forms of very
strong emphasis (adding a border around a few words).
Also matching scanned in graphics in line width might
or might not be relevant.
While I understand that the interface should be simpler,
there should at least be the possibility to enter a numeric
value, IMHO.
