Hi Astron, all,
I was surprised when I noticed that the Windows installer now defaults
to no desktop icon (during the installation, "Create a start link on the
desktop" is unchecked).
Andras told me it was this bug report:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=49919
I'd like to ask you to reconsider the decision there ;-) Virtually
every Windows program I recall defaults to creating the link on the
desktop (while providing the user a possibility to uncheck it), and
also, getting rid of the icon is as simple as deleting it (if the user
let the checkbox checked by mistake). OTOH - getting it back if you
forgot it unchecked needs a bit more skills, and the user's activity.
Can we agree to change the default of "Create a start link on the
desktop" back to 'checked', please? :-)
Thank you,
Kendy
