yeah, makes sense as a first cut - ultimately, though, there's a
deeper problem, in that apparently global shortcuts are eaten by
this dialog-in-disguise pane. For example, Ctrl-S is similarly eaten
- you would think you've saved your document, but no, just this
silly start timing dropdown gets selected.
Since global shortcuts are configurable, this appears fundamentally
un-fixable by avoiding certain letters - Cc ux-advise for opinions,
