Hi all,
Sorry for top-posting...
I support that it is turned off by default.
I support comments / ideas from pierre-yves.
People that learn to handle Undo / Ctrl-Z feel very much relieved.
Best,
Cor

If the subject is "Disable auto-numbering by default" the simplest

Apply numbering - symbol ?

That is exactly what the pushed patch does - unchecks this option by
default.
Ok Sorry, I thought the change would be "only" : trigger the
auto-numbering only when hitting .[Tab]

1. It does not apply by default Numbering1 and List1 styles (List Styles)
2. It is limited to Default, Body Text, Body Text indent (paragraph style)

Could you be more specific, please?
These remarks concern the way auto-numbering is applied, not on the trigger.
1. No use of styles
Current behavior not ok
- Formatting is imposed on the user
- This is a direct formatting (no style involved)
- So it must be redefined each time a list is created if the parameters
are not suitable.
Current behavior ok
- By default, new lists start with the typed number and level implied
(3.2.1 => third level)
Proposed behavior (if Tools> AutoCorrect Options> Options>
Apply numbering - symbol> Checked)
When Hitting .[Tab] or<*>.[Tab] or<->.[Tab]... :
- Applying a list style (either Numbering1 or List1)
- The presentation is standardized in the document (same for each list
in that style)
- Easy to customize
This would require changing the current behavior of the list style on
the renumbering (don't restart by default today)
2. Only 3 paragraph styles
Auto-numbering only triggers for paragraphs in those styles.
If auto-numbering is proposed... is that it is useful (or will be more)
I can not explain the fact that it is active only for those three
styles of paragraphs ?
I will be offline for two weeks starting Monday. Sorry for that...
Regards
Pierre-Yves
