My impression is that the OP _wants_ to learn a little bit about database design and construction.

Both Koha and Calibre are FLOSS solutions that literally require nothing more than installation, 
and then adding the data for the books. (There are also other reasons why those are more practical 
solutions than rolling one's own.)
