Hi,
LO 3.3 RC4, Ubuntu 10.4.
File>New>Database...
Connect to existing database.
Drop down the list of database types and walk down the list using the
down arrow. The office crashes when I reach the "LDAP Address Book".

Is this a known issue or can anybody confirm the problem?

Confirm... crashes on me as well as soon as I click on "LDAP Address
Book". LO 3.3 RC4 Ubuntu 10.10 - linux. Same when I use the down arrow.

Just tested on LO 3.3 RC4 in WinXP (running in VMWare Player) & does not
crash.

Also does not crash in (linux) OOo 3.4-dev:
$ cat /opt/ooo-dev3/program/versionrc
[Version]
AllLanguages=en-US
buildid=300m98(Build:9568)
...
OOOBaseVersion=3.4
ProductBuildid=9568
ProductMajor=300
ProductMinor=98
ProductSource=DEV300
UpdateID=OOo-dev_3_en-US

or OOo 3.2.1

$ cat /opt/openoffice.org3/program/versionrc
[Version]
AllLanguages=en-US
buildid=320m18(Build:9502)
...
OOOBaseVersion=3.2
ProductBuildid=9502
ProductMajor=320
ProductMinor=18
ProductSource=OOO320
UpdateID=OpenOffice.org_3_en-US

Ubuntu/go-oo OOo 3.2.1 (OOO320m10 Build:9505) does have the LDAP option.

Recommend that you post on the dev list to see if it's a known issue &
ask if a bug report is needed. Alternately, you can search:

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/query.cgi
Product: LibreOffice
Word: LDAP

and... while providing those instructions I just found:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=32561

I reckon that we might want to add comments to that bug report. :-)
