Asunto: [libreoffice-users] How to get column total in last row in calc?
One would have thought this was an easiy answered question but I can't
find a straightforward answer anywhere.
If I have a spreadsheet with a column containing numbers how do I get
the sum of all the numbers in the column and put it in the last row?
Yes, I know the obvious answer, if it's column B and I have ten rows
in my spreadsheet then the answer is:-
SUM(B1:B10)
However this would need to be changed every time I add a row to the
spreadsheet. There is surely a way of specifying 'the row before this
one' as the second parameter but I can't find how to do this. It's so
basic that one would have thought a quick web search would provide the
answer but I've failed miserably to find it (maybe my searching
ability is poor).
So, how do I specify 'the row before this one'?
Hi!
I apologize if I haven't understood your problem.
Assuming the initial case, where you have 10 rows of data, whether you
insert a whole row or insert a cell by selecting the option to shift cells
down, the formula will automatically change to SUM(B1:B11) or whatever.

Ah, if only this was explained **well** somewhere! :-) Thank you, the
way that 'relative' references work in a spreadsheet wasn't at all
obvious (to me anyway!).
As you say, it works exactly the way I want it to.
