Everyone else can, but you seem to refuse to give away any details, so I'm
not sure how to be able to help.
I just select whatever I want to copy, hit Ctrl+c, select another cell,
then Ctrl+v. If that doesn't work for you, maybe there's a bug in the
version you are using, but who knows? You didn't say anything about that
either.

There is no team. It's a community. There are mailing lists like this and
there's a place to report bugs. See http://www.libreoffice.org/ for more.
There are also wiki pages and help pages.

I'm not a native English speaker, so I don't have a clue what ”hit the
ground running” is supposed to mean, sorry.
By the way, if you want to contribute with your programming skills, I'm
pretty sure you'd be very welcome to do so.
