Thanks, all. Useful about nemo. I'd been doing a lot of searching, so it could be nemo uses odt2txt as part of searches. On 2025 Apr 4 16:07:03, Dave Howorth wrote:Dave is right that this probably isn't the right list for this question. In any case, I did a Web search for 'nemo odt2txt cpu usage' and came up with a number of hits that implicate nemo, such as https://forum.endeavouros.com/t/nemo-on-gnome-42/26753/13. That one mentions pdftotext but I think that odt2txt could result in something similar. On Fri, 4 Apr 2025 14:27:17 -0400 Eric Beversluis <ebever@researchintegration.org> wrote:Eric Beversluis http://www.ericbeversluis.com/ 2x Honorable Mention--Writer's Digest Contest On 4/4/25 12:19 PM, Christoph wrote:You may not have started it consciously, but I bet you did start it indirectly, i.e., starting a programm that called odt2txt. You use Fedora. So it may or may not be a dependency on your machine. But again, your question belongs on a Fedora list, not a libreoffice one.since I use nemo. But that leaves open the question, why would nemo have started it at this time? Or, if nemo uses it a lot, why did it create a problem on this occasion? Probably not questions that can be easily answered. I'll keep my eye out to see if odt2txt runs in the future. Thanks to all.- Robert
