I must click on "*Gear*" icon of *Document Scanner* and select "All
pages from feeder" to scan multiple pages.
I also use "*gscan2pdf*" which may help you.
Simple Scan is basically a frontend for SANE - which is the same
backend as XSANE uses. This means that all existing scanners will work
and the interface is well tested.
I'm assuming that you had no problems installing Brother Software. My
installation was not the easiest but your problem was not one I had.

their scanner and quickly have the image/document in an appropriate format

I use Xubuntu 2404 and simple-scan as well. It doesn't do a lot, but
it can scan single or multiple pages quite well. Few settings, and you
need to use different paper settings for platen vs feeder scans, but
it's easier than xsane or any other scanning software I've used.
