Is the text 'Page number' shaded to indicate that it's a field, or does it look like regular text.
In any case, have you tried replacing it by doing Insert > Field > Page Number, or Insert > Page
Number... ? As for why these things happened, I have no idea. It could have been some unnoticed
twitches on the keyboard or the mouse.

Hi.
I had this really nice template set up. Worked very well, until it didn't
At the moment, my page numbers in the upper right hand corned of the
header literally say "Page number". I have no idea where that came from.
Te digits are gone.
Also, somewhere along the line the page numbers, before they vanished,
began to count by twos from the first page, i.e. 1, 3, 5, 7, and now I
have half as many pages as I thought I had.
