For what it is worth, I have found UK's Kalender,
https://www.ukrebs-software.de/ is excellent. I put all my appointments
into it. I can set it to remind me a couple of days in advance so that I
don't get any surprises. The reminder comes up automatically on my screen,
on top of anything I may be doing and if I am busy I can then set a time
when I want it to display again. And it can be set up for important
regular reminders like 'turn on the electric blanket!' etc. And finally it
is freeware.

As you were told before, use a calendar app. You have gmail, therefore
you have a calendar available to use.

I use the Google calendar, contacts, tasks, etc.. I have them on my
cell phone and tablet and can access them with a browser on my
computers. Works well.
