So, has the v7.x series been totally superseded now? Has the "Fresh" &
"Still" (or whatever it's been called more recently) scheme been set
aside as obsolete?

Nothing really changed. After version "7.6", instead of releasing
"7.7.u.v" (or whichever the next version number would had been), the
new scheme is "24.2.u.v", where "24.2" means "YY.M", or
"Year.Month_of_release".

"A new calendar-based numbering scheme (YY.M.Patch) is introduced
since this release. This will help users to more easily see how
current their installed version of LibreOffice is."

In:

"LibreOffice 24.2 is our latest major release, with a new "year.month"
version scheme and many new features."

In:
<https://www.libreoffice.org/download/release-notes/>

...both current released versions are mentioned:

 * "...recommended for technology enthusiasts..." (aka "Fresh") points
to version 24.2.5.

 * "...mature previous release..." (aka "Still") points to version 7.6.7.

When the next 24.8 branch will get out on August (the eighth month of
year 2024), then the current "24.2" branch will be the new "Still".

In:
<https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleasePlan>

...the "Still" and "Fresh" branches are mentioned as usual.

HTH,
Ady.
