I think I figured it out. I had referenced an empty cell as part of the
formula and then wanted the sum to update when I added value to that cell.
It looks like if I start with zero in that cell the update happens.
Thanks.

I've got a table in an LO writer document with a formula that adds up
about 5 other cells. When I enter the formula it does the calculation
and gives me the sum. But I don't see how to get the formula to update
the sum when I change a value in one of the reference cells.
Is there a way to have Writer do that?
Thanks.
