I can't help you with an LO IDE for Java or Python. But I found a way to 
work with embedded macros using Python under Linux. At first sight it 
seems to be complicated, but once established it works smoothly.

I made a PDF file describing my experiences - in German. Maybe you get 
some clues out of it.
