This may not be quite the same, but I notice that if I put my computer
to sleep while LO is running, sometimes when I reopen it, I get similar
behavior with LO, with various toolbar or menu items all white or
blanked out. It is not always limited to LO, but also visible with some
other programs, but it seems to be worse in LO, and I don't think I've
ever noticed it when I put the computer to sleep with LO not running.

I'm running LO 5.1.6.2 on Linux Mint 18. When this happens, I just close
everything out and reboot.

I had to reinstall Ubuntu MATE 14.04 to a desktop [quad core] when the
16.04 upgrade failed. Then I ran these commands, since I wanted a
newer version of LibreOffice than 14.04 had in their repository.

sudo apt-get remove libreoffice?

sudo dpkg -i *.deb

After the commands finished, I installed LO 5.2.5. That is when I
noticed that the Formatting and Standard toolbars had all of black
lines [like center and align right] where actually white. I even
installed a different look with LO Theme in the Personalization
options. Those toolbars did not change from white color.

To be honest, I fixed the issue by renaming the LO .config folder and
then open LO again.

So the real question is has anyone seen this happen to a Linux install?

To hold off some questions, I do not think I will upgrade to Ubuntu
MATE 16.04 anytime soon. I do not need to do this right now since the
desktop is being used as a file/data storage system and may be turned
to a file server.
