Personally, I never heard of "RecordMyDesktop", by name, before. Though
I remember seeing a few weeks ago some other package name that does that
type of function. So, do you have to use that package or can you use
some other one?
RecordMyDesktop is a part of the UbuntuStudio 1604 LTS on my desktop.
Possibly only the Studio flavour of Ubuntu decided to include it in the
distro. You'll find it in the 'Video Production' part of the software on
the panel dropdown.

I've always found useful advice, rapidly, on one or other of the many
Ubuntu forums mentioned in a previous post.

Then the people there are helping other more, which it was not what it seemed a few years ago. This was my experience.

I once installed some of the "Studio" packages on version 12.xx or 13.xx. Will have to look into those included packages again. I may find some interesting packages that I could use once in a while.
