I want a link (launcher?) on my ubuntu 14.04 box to run LO in a

directory that I used. How do I get it to come up the the directory I
specify in the desktop launcher.

I think LibreOffice will always start to open documents in the path
specified under:
Tools/Options LibreOffice/Paths/My Documents
a comple list of start options can be seen by entering:
'libreoffice --help'
on a shell-prompt
