I am having a little trouble trying to understand some of the drawing styles. For instance, the styles for drawing objects mention:
Object with arrow
And the documentation says how to apply this style, but I have not yet found anything that says what it is or why you would want to use it. And when I create an object and apply this style, I don't see any arrow. Is this explained anywhere, or can someone explain it to me?

The style sets the characteristics of a line and attaches an arrow to it. In the case of an enclosed shape, the line is its boundary and because it has no end there is nowhere to which to attach the arrow!

If you create an object that has a line which is not closed on itself - a line, an arc, and so on - and apply the style, you will see the arrow.

I trust this helps.
