I have no intention of going 'small', in order to type with my
thumbs ;-)
Now to answer your question, to remove any of the toolbars,
go to the menu options where toolbars are located ... just
de-select whatever you wish not to see.
BTW - I remember when many were going to larger & larger screens ;-)

Given that many of us use small-format machines (12" or less), is there any
way of auto-hiding the standard toolbars? I've looked fairly hard, and
can't immediately see how to do this.
