@John, *,
You don't mention which branch of LibreOffice, but at 4.3 the Gallery dialog
has been moved exclusively to the Sidebar deck. Display of the deck is
controlled from the Sidebar Tab bar--the Sidebar deck can be collapsed down
to the Tab bar, to just a button on the window edge, or closed completely.
The View -> Sidebar, and residual View -> Clip Art Gallery will toggle the
Sidebar active--Clip Art opening directly to that content panel in the deck.
Any of the Sidebar Tab buttons on the Tab bar will shift the deck to the
corresponding content panel. In Calc spreadsheet that would be Properties,
Styles and Formatting, Gallery, Navigator, Functions. For the 4.4 branch, a
second click on a Tab bar button will close the Deck leaving just the Tab
bar showing.
Point is--you can use either menu or mouse actions (or keyboard only) to
open, hide or close the Gallery in its docked or undocked position in the
Sidebar widgets.
