When I save my document I use the SAVE on the toolbar. When I click it, my data is saved, and the SAVE image is dimmed. But earlier today, it could not be dimmed. How can I dim it?

Only by saving your document, I hope! If you mean that you have actually completed the Save of the document (which may involve providing a file name and destination folder in the Save As dialogue for a new document, of course) then something is wrong.

Note that some activities that you might not consider changes will modify the document and will bring the Save icon out of its greyed-out state.

I trust this helps.
