For the average user, the spectacle offered by this list can be pretty
off-putting. Just saying...

I agree with you, several of the discussions happening here should
happen on the discuss@ list and I understand that it could be really
annoying for some users who only come here to ask or answer questions
about the use of LibreOffice. It's the only users@ list in the project
that I know doing so.
So all could you please stay on the topic of the list and post
discussions on the relevant discuss@ list. Thanks :)
