Here's a possible workaround:
o Search for double-space and replace with some character not used in 
your document - perhaps #.
o Search for [A-Z][^#] - with both "Match case" and "Regular 
expressions" ticked.

This will match the capitals you need, but also the following 
character.  If you want to replace just the capital, search for 
[A-Z]([^#]) instead and append $1 to your replacement string.

In any case, replace # with double-space afterwards, of course.
