That is why having a backup copy option and a auto save for recovery is
needed.
I think every time you open or save the document, you might get a backup
copy [or maybe not]. You will have to check the documentation to know
for sure.
I have had a few system crashes, yes for both Windows and Linux, where
the auto-save saved a lot of work from being retype in. Having a back
copy of important files for each level of changes may be as important to
many as it is to have a backup of all of your files [i.e. an external
set of backup drives].

Beware -
by using 'restore', you could lose anything which was placed on

I may be out of my depth here
but in Windows 7
if you right click the file name
it shows an option "Restore Previous Versions"
i've never used it
but that looks promising to me
good luck

It may be hiding in the cache ...
it may have found its way to another folder ... ... ... [who
knows ;-) ]
Unless you know how to seek without losing any of these 'bits &
bytes',
I would take the machine to your trusted computer guy [hopefully
you know one]
and let him uncover your 'lost' document.

I had a 26 page file of 61 KB. I saved the file. When I went to open it
again, the first page was blank, the second page was there, and the third
page was a blank. Nothing more was there.
My computer shows that the file is still there and is 61KB.
Is the file hiding somewhere? Is there anything I can do to recover it?
I am using Libreoffice ver. 4.1.4.2 and Windows 7-64bit.
Thanks.
Carole
