Hey Y'all,

I've been struggling with this for weeks. I've got the Base Handbook
for Version 4 that goes along really well with the version 4 LO that I
have on my system. I also purchased a copy of "OpenOffice.prg Base &
Basic" that contains lots of really good information.

I'm trying to build a recipe database. I have several tables, one that
contains the name of the recipe, another that contains the instructions,
another for the ingredients, and so on. To display the entire recipe on
one form I need data from more than two tables.

I've found a way to insert a subform that contains data related to a
table that is different from the table related to the main form, but I
still need data from several other tables to complete the display. The
problem is that I can only find a way to insert one subform.

Now that the scene is set I'll ask the question. How can I pull data
from several tables, that would be more than two, on one form? Is there
a chapter in the Base Handbook that I need to read more closely maybe?

What I would do is create a form using the form wizard containing the main form and one of the subforms. When this is done, edit the form. (Right click the name of the table and select Edit from the context menu.) Then you will need to to add the Form Controls toolbar (View > Toolbars > Form Controls). On the right end of this toolbar are tools that open the other two toolbars you will need: Form Design and More Controls. From the Form Design toolbar you begin by opening the Form Navigator. It is this tool that enables you to added additional subforms and define the relationships that exist between the tables used in the from. I am finishing the "Tables" chapter for the Base Guide. So it is only a draft copy and will contain notification of such. If you would like for me to send you a copy of it, I can do this Saturday morning. It is approximately 700KB. It contains details on how to create a form containing multiple objects (Tables, Views, and Queries.) There are screenshots of the tools to help you.
