Thanks for the reply.

I believe that I will still continue to manually remove LibreOffice then,
install the new version.

I did use the "purge" in the past installs.  Maybe the next install I will
fore go using the "purge" option.

I do not know if it is still needed for going from 4.1.2 to 4.1.3, but
it should be done for things like 4.0.5 to 4.1.2.

There may be issues with "launch menus" and other parts of the setup
that could be negatively affected by not uninstalling LO before the new
version is installed.

What I do is always uninstall first, just to be safe.

Of course, if you are getting your install from the OS repository, then
they do the work for you.

I use the following command
sudo apt-get remove libreoffice*

if you use "purge" it will remove all of the config files, but you may
not want to do that.
