It seems that LO is keeping the spacing between bars but not the bar width.

Double click on the chart to switch to edit mode, click on any bar, right
click and choose Format Data Series. In the Options tab, decrease Spacing to
100% or less.

When you report a bug or ask a question it helps that you mention which OS
(I assume Windows since you use Office 2007) and version and which LO
version you are using ;)
