Hi :)
Yes, it is good to ask the list. Ideal answers are to find a work-around and/or find out what is
going wrong and then encourage people to post a bug-report if one is still needed. Hopefully that
gives people temporary work-arounds even if they are not perfect.

Tom :)

Hi Tom,
Thank you for the links. I will definitely post a bug-report if it appears
that no one met the problem here.
What I was trying to do via the mailing list was to elucidate first if it
was really a bug or some misfunction for which a workaround already existed.
I am sceptical if I am alone in the world trying to use SMP1 characters in
LO :) The PDF Export function of LO is a really interesting feature and it's
a pity SMP1 characters are clobbered in the process.

Hi :)
I guess it's already been mentioned that posting a bug-report would be
great. These 2 links both have the same result but you might find the
approach of one of the links easier to use than the other one
http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/BugReport
https://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/bug/
Probably you might find the 2nd is the easier one for you.
It takes a long while before the devs get around to solving bugs and it is
not a waiting list. They prioritise the bugs and then work on the ones
that look most interesting or seem the easiest to fix. Anyone who would
like to join the devs team might find LO particularly easy to get started
with because of the "Easy Hacks" initiative.

Hi Steve,
Thank you for your answer.
I did not try PS2PDF, but I know I can print correctly the LO document to
PDF with PrimoPDF. I suppose CutePDF would do the same. The reason I would
like LO PDF Export to work is that it preserves the whole structure of the
document (marks, links, TOC...).
One additional point: the fonts are embedded in the PDF file produced by
LO, but the characters of SMP1 do not show correctly.

Hi.
Can you print to file (postscript) and convert to PDF with say PS2PDF
(or on windows print to PDF using something like Cute PDF).

Is there a chance anyone knows why PDF export does not operate correctly

Unicode characters pertaining to Supplementary Multilingual Plane 1
(i.e.
with code point greater than 0xFFFF) do not show correctly in a PDF
exported by Writer (and possibly other LO components). I didn't find any
sensible indication in the Web that this problem was already known. Has
anyone a clue how to solve that? Thanks in advance.
