Your sheet name is "Database1" so I assume that you have more such "databases".
1) Select the range to filter.
2) Data>Define... enter some range name (alpha-numeric, no spaces)
3) Buttons "Add" + "OK"

Try again if the filter criteria get lost.

I'm confident this helps.

P.S. We are talking about ODF spreadsheets (*.ods), right?
